A British Wall Crawler in New York.

Alright I think this going to be a quick one but I’m really digging the picture that Sony Pictures have released of the new Spider-Man film today. I’ve been on the fence since now but having seen some spy pics that are floating on the interweb and now a full figure shot of Brit actor Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker suited and booted as Spidey.

My first impressions are they’ve kept the “scales” look which was part of the costume worn by Tobey Maguire in the Sam Raimi films and added a design which could have been created by Spider-Man artist Mark Bagley who has drawn many Spidey comics including Ultimate Spider-Man, a reboot of the character from which the new film is said to based on.

I remember watching the first Spider-Man movie with enthusiasm as the films progressed, I don’t think Tobey Maguire never really got the grasp of Peter Parker’s alter ego. An actor has play the angst ridden nature of Peter Parker whilst also handling the wisecracking wit of Spider-Man. We’ll see next year if Garfield can perfect what Maguire failed in.

Another thing I like is it’s going to be called “The Amazing Spider-Man”as opposed to Spider-Man 4 or even Spider-Man Rises. It’s a great shout out to the longest running Spidey comic out there. In regards to the actual storyline, like Manuel would say to Basil Fawlty “I know nothing” I only know it’s got perennial Spidey villain, the Lizard played by Rhys Ifans in it with Emma Stone as the tragic Gwen Stacy, Parker’s first girlfriend.

All I’ve got to say is that I’m hoping director Marc Webb really does a Spectacular and a Sensational job of directing New York’s friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man. I wonder what Spider-Man co creator Steve Ditko thinks...
